Jake's little boy, Kale, was sitting in the backseat of the car tonight, just jabbering away talking to me, and out of the blue he goes, "Hey daddy...". Out of habit, and knowing that Jake was listening to the radio because a Jazz game was one, I responded, so Kale says, "No, I don't want to talk to you. Dad...". Finally, once he had Jake's attention, the rest of the conversation just had me rolling.
Jake: Yeah bud, what's up?
Kale: Dad, can I have some beer?
At this point Jake and I both look at each other, with our mouth's literally dropped like WHAT IN THE WORLD? How would he know what that was and why in the world would he be asking that? So I turn back to Kale,
Me: Kale, what did you say?
He repeated the same thing. So I start racking my brain trying to think of what he is saying, because I'm sure there is no way he is asking for beer and I don't want to ask him if that's what he said because I don't want him to ask me what beer is if it isn't what he said.
Me: Can you come sit up here?
Kale: No, can I shoot a bear?
Jake and I just start busting up, because this is almost as ridiculous as it would have been for him to want beer. Where did that come from?
Me: Why do you want to shoot a bear?
Kale: Cuz I want a gun.
Me: You want a gun? Why?
Kale: Because they are mean.
The rest of the conversation just went on trying to convince Kale that maybe when he's older he can shoot some bears.
Anyway, he was cracking me up. But later that night while I was giving him a bath, he looks up at me and says, "Hey look, my weiner's in the water too."...as if it was an entire separate entity from his body.
Also, earlier when I was helping go to the bathroom at the wrestling match we had gone to, I helped him off the toilet, wiped him bottom, and while I was helping him pull his pants up, he looked at me and said, "You're nice." Quite the response from a three year old, who is getting his bottom wiped and is probably used to it on a daily basis. Well, it made me smile. Cute little boy.
Kids say the funniest things sometimes. I'm glad I get to be around this little boy sometimes because he is so funny. He makes me laugh all the time.
