PHILIPPE MEXES PROFILE
Philippe Mexes born 30 March 1982 is a French professional footballer who plays as a centre back for Italian Serie A club Milan and for the French national team.
He played for the Under-18 and Under-21 French national football teams, eventually winning a spot in the senior squad in August 2002. In Raymond Domenech's tenure as coach of the national team, he was rarely called up, and he failed to make the French squad for UEFA Euro 2004. He was called up for France's friendly match against Bosnia and Herzegovina in August 2006.
Mex�s was not chosen for the 2006 or 2010 FIFA World Cup competitions in Germany and South Africa, respectively.
After 2010 World Cup, Laurent Blanc was appointed as new coach of the national team, and Mex�s played the five first games of the Blanc era, partnering in centre back with Adil Rami.
On 25 March 2011, he scored his first goal for his country in a game against Luxembourg.
Mex�s and his girlfriend, Carla, have two children together. His son, Enzo, was born on 1 June 2003, and his daughter, Eva, was born on 29 July 2007.
