The Man Behind The Mask - Twilight Is Revealed

This is another one of those times where even if you were living under a rock, it would be hard not to have escaped the reveal of Season Eight baddie, Twilight. And I can reveal it's not a good one.

The covers for Issues 34 and 35 have been leaked.

Issue 35: http://s157.photobucket.com/albums/t46/drakestboy/Buffy%20The%20Vampire%20Slayer/?action=view&current=8-35.jpg

I'm hoping this is bullshit and that the leak from Dark Horses/Scott Allie/Joss Whedon was deliberate to throw people off the scent but if not, here's a few reasons why this reveal sucks.

- It's going to wreck with certain comic continuity. Nothing worse than someone deliberately pooping over their own canon.
- Dramatically it makes zero sense. Why would this guy resort to the measures Twilight has to cause trouble? It's not their usual MO.
- This guy has already been a season Big Bad and so far, we've had no new Big Bad. Government are as boring and ineffectual as they were in the fourth season, Warren's resurrection has proved utterly pointless and Amy's been savagely underused and wasted as Twilight's minion. Wouldn't she have been a better choice as a main villain instead of Twilight? I'm beginning to think so.

Also here's Joss Whedon's response to the reveal. Make of it what you will .... http://splashpage.mtv.com/2010/01/11/exclusive-joss-whedon-on-buffy-season-eight-twilight-reveal-first-look-at-issue-35/
