Straight-up cheeseball dance for you today because, well... it's a Friday, and it's been a long day! Sweden's Star Pilots are coming off of a string of three fantastically overblown clubpop singles and now, after many months of waiting, we get to hear something new. As of now, I've gotta say this is the weakest of their singles. It's definitely got that huge Star Pilots sound, but the melody this time around is a bit lacking. And, let's face it, when it comes to cheesy pop music like this, the melody is key. Otherwise it ends up sounding far too much like everything else. Putting my quibbles aside, though, I still love this group's go-for-the-jugular, overblown sound. No one's going to accuse them of spectacular artistry, but that's not what this is about. This is about big for big's sake. Higher choruses, faster beats and a sense that you can do anything, even if it is only for a couple of minutes.

I have always had a fascination with the Air Pilots, in any shape or form, so as this Year Mf have there very own
'Star Pilots' I just had to find out more. They are know as M-30, M-31, & M-32 + Johan Becker. They had a recent Euro Hit with 'In the heat of the Night' a Digital Dog mix of this has been featured in Ministry of Sound 2009 Annual CD ( Hear MIX below) Most recently they have done an upbeat version of Chesney Hawkes 1991 No;1 Hit 'The one and only' which is just as good if not better than the original.

Johan Becker- The man behind the sun shades, he is a songwriter and former teacher from Helsinki. He was one half
of The Wallstones who sung 'Invisible People' in Melodifestivalen 2005. Johan wrote 'Har stannar jag kvar' for Sandra Dahlberg in Mf 2004 as well.

Who are The Star Pilots?

Well, along with E M D they have been confirmed for

Melodifestivalen 2009- So now all artists + songs + writers have been revealed.

E M D are three x swedish idol winner & contestants Erik Segerstedt, Mattias Andreasson & Danny (who had huge hit with Tokyo thought out Europe) these guys have No:1's already with the most recent topper being "A State of Mind" new album which is rather great for a debut. They will sing at Mf Semi- Final at Leksand, a self penned song called "Baby Goodbye"

Then the question remains who f#@ are the Star Pilots? they are a new 4 piece band comprising of Johan Fjellstrom & Joakim Udd who have produced Hit songs for A-Teens, E Type, Marloolio & Helena Paparitzou. They are about to take off with their new single "In the heat of the Night"

it may sound like an 80's cover! but its not, yet they do credit Samantha Fox, Top Gun & Eurythmics as influencing their sound. The song for Mf in Malmo Semi-Final is "Higher" and the 4 singers are known as

M-38, M-31, J-21 and J-38 complete with Tom Cruise sunnies !

Looks like a retro-summer to be had in sweden next year...
